Beginning July 1, 2006 the European Union has adopted the Restriction of Hazardous Substances or RoHS Directive in order to reduce the amount of hazardous materials contained in electronic parts and equipment. To date, only EU member countries have adopted RoHS. As of March 1, 2007 China has adopted the RoHS standard as well.
The RoHS directive requires that the maximum concentration values of the restricted substances by weight in any homogenous materials are as follows:
Cadmium/Cadmium Compounds 0.01%
Hexavalent Chromium/ Hexavalent Chromium Compounds 0.10%
Lead/Lead Compounds 0.10%
Mercury/Mercury Compounds 0.10%
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBBs) 0.10%
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDEs)0.10%
Many items we carry pre-date RoHS and therefore are most likely not compliant. As more recently manufactured items come in, we do what we can to determine the status of their compliance.
Our determination of compliance is the result of statements made by the manufacturer and/or supplier of such items. We will add compliance information to our website as we receive it.
Cascade Surplus Electronics is not responsible as to the accuracy of such statements.
There are many exceptions and exemptions to the RoHS directive. Buyer accepts full responsibility for which items are allowed in his or her country.
